Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. at Ibert's Mortuary of Patterson for James Ewell "Jim" Swords, a native of Orange, Texas and a five year resident of Kingwood, Texas, who passed away at the age of 59 following a courageous battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. He will be laid to rest in the Patterson Protestant Cemetery. Rev. Clyde Crappell will conduct the services.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday at Ibert's Mortuary of Patterson beginning at 11:00 a.m. and will continue until time of service at 2:30 p.m.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sauda Swords; his five siblings, Mike Swords, Teresa S. Knott, Robert Swords, Patricia "Annie" Swords, and Richard Swords; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; as well as his beloved dog, Belle.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Swords Jr.; his mother, Evelyn Poston Swords; his sister, Margie Swords; and his brother-in-law, Thomas Vosejpka.
