Mildred Guidry Plattsmier of Baton Rouge, Louisiana died May 3, 2016 at the age of 94. Born March 10, 1922 she grew up in Ridge, Louisiana, and was a graduate of Indian Bayou High School.

Mildred met and married her husband, Bennett Bernard Plattsmier, in Rayne, Louisiana, and they had two children, a daughter Susan Marie Plattsmier Carbo, and a son, Charles "Chuck" Bennett Plattsmier. In 1955 they moved to Patterson, Louisiana, where they resided for over 40 years. A 'stay at home mom' her entire married life, husband and children were her life, never wavering in her love, devotion, and support of each of them. She was an accomplished seamstress, cake baker and decorator, and used her artistic talents in creating beautiful porcelain dolls and other items.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Bennett, her father Henri Guidry, her mother Elzia Hanks Guidry Mouton, her stepfather, Sidney Mouton, and an infant son, Patrick Joseph.

She is survived by her sister Gerelda Champagne, and two brothers, Harvey Mouton and wife Shelva Dean, and Patrick Mouton and wife Pam. She is also survived by her daughter Susan Plattsmier Carbo and her husband Harold; her son Charles Plattsmier and his wife Sally Achord Plattsmier; five grandchildren: Brett Carbo and wife Leanna, Stephanie Carbo Schiller and husband Andrew, Brad Carbo and wife Heidi, Joanna Plattsmier, and Christopher Plattsmier; and six great-grandchildren: Kristin Carbo, Andrea Carbo, Breanna Carbo, Olivia Schiller, Bradley Carbo, and Josephine Carbo.

Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson, Louisiana, on Friday May 6, 2016 commencing at 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 with the start of the Catholic Rite of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Patterson where family and friends will celebrate her life. Interment will follow immediately at the St. Mary Memorial Park in Patterson.

The family wants to express our heartfelt thanks to the sitters Kathy, Rachelle, LaTonya, Chantel, and Mattie who have been with us on this journey for the last 6 years, for their loving care and devotion to our mother.
